The Self-Exam You Need:
Hello Friends! This month I'm absolutely in love with sharing tips for better breast health for breast cancer prevention. As someone who's had family members experience breast cancer...I'm in the prevention over awareness camp. How about you? I'm all about getting to the root cause. Let's face it unless you've been living under a rock you're *aware* that cancer exists. It's time to shift the conversation from awareness to prevention.
How 'bout it? Do you feel me?
Did you know that only 5-10% of breast cancers have a genetic link? Shocking!
Wondering about the other 95-90%. Yep, it's most likely linked to environmental and lifestyle facts. (This my friends should make you feel hopeful.) So wouldn't it be worth our time to focus on controlling the controllable(s) within that 95-90%? Hell yea! That's the driving force behind prevention; it boils down to sleep, nutrition, movement, and emotional well-being. So I am curious...are you taking care of you?
Most of us would never willingly put ourselves at risk for cancer and other illnesses. Am I right? If you been touched by cancer yourself (hear me loud and clear) it isn't your fault. No shame goblins here! The truth is, that although we live in the age of information, we lack awareness around our bodies putting ourselves at risk for a whole host of issues. Let's face it nobody hands us a owners manual when we are born. (It'd be nice though.)
We've numbed out to our own needs, have we not? We've promised ourselves a million time over that we will deal with our issues tomorrow and make time for ourselves next weekend. We end our days still reeling from the one before drowning our worries in wine, ice-cream, bagged dinners, and Netflix. We eat the salads and go for our runs but neglect the emotional and spiritual being inside.
It's time to wake-up my friends! It's time to dive in! It's time to give a sh*t about what's happening in our being our mind and body! It's time to get comfortable being uncomfortable. What are you resisting? Lean in. Honor yourself because you're worthy! You will be amazed! When you show-up for ourselves we show-up for the world.
